Employee Housing Ownership Program
Helping to make Whistler a place to call home
The Whistler Housing Authority (WHA) manages an inventory of diverse home ownership properties that are bought and sold to qualified Whistler employees on the WHA Ownership Waitlist. The Employee Housing Program allows Whistler's workforce to be able to live in Whistler in long-term, secure housing.
All of the Employee Ownership Housing Units have covenants registered on title that require Whistler employees to occupy the homes as their primary residence to ensure that the Employee Housing Program inventory is used as intended - for Whistler employees. The employee homes also have restrictions on the maximum resale amounts. The current covenants tie the resale value to an appreciation formula based on the Core Consumer Price Index (CCPI).
There are 987 Employee Housing Units in the WHA ownership inventory, and 202 additional ownership properties in Whistler with employee occupancy restrictions.
Program qualifications require permanent status in Canada, working full time for a Qualified Whistler Business and strict limitations on allowable real estate ownership.
If you are interested in the Employee Housing Ownership Program, you are encouraged to apply for the Ownership Waitlist as soon as you qualify because opportunities are given to waitlist applicants on a first-come, first-served basis. The sooner you apply, the sooner you will have an opportunity to buy a home.
