The Whistler Housing Authority (WHA) manages 479 long-term rental homes for qualified Whistler employees and retirees. The Employee Housing Rental Program is designed specifically for Whistler's workforce. Applicants must meet the program's eligibility requirements, including employment or retirement qualifications.

Rental rates are generally based on 30% of gross household income, subject to minimum and maximum rates for each property. Unit eligibility is also based on household size to ensure housing is allocated efficiently.

Occupancy Standards

To make the best use of available employee housing, WHA applies occupancy standards based on BC Housing guidelines. These standards determine the appropriate unit size for each household.

The following standards apply:

• Minimum of 1 person and maximum of 2 people per bedroom.
• Spouses and couples are expected to share a bedroom.
• Single applicants and couples without children are eligible for studio or one-bedroom units.
• A single parent with one child is eligible for a two-bedroom unit.
• Larger units may be available to singles or couples if additional bedrooms will be occupied by qualified employees.
• All occupants must be listed on the lease and meet WHA eligibility requirements.
