WHA is listening. In last year’s Employee Housing Engagement Survey, you told us you want more ability to engage and provide input in Whistler’s Employee Housing Programs. Based on this feedback, we are focused on providing more of these input and engagement for you. Of the 332 Employee Housing Survey responses received last year, 69% of respondents indicated they were satisfied or very satisfied with the ability to engage with the WHA - up from 55% in 2022.
Over the last two years we have conducted an annual Employee Housing Engagement Survey. With this third year of administering this survey, we want YOU to participate today and provide the WHA with your feedback about the Employee Housing Programs.
We enlisted the community’s help in naming the WHA’s new rental apartment building under construction at 1450 Mount Fee Road. The name of this new WHA building is The Hemlocks. Stay tuned for more updates on this new WHA rental project on our social media posts, on our WHA Facebook Page and our website, and via direct engagement with our program participants through WHA emails.
Over the last 6 months, the WHA staff has been visiting with local community and professional associations to deliver current, up to date information about the Employee Housing Programs, sharing facts and lived experiences, dispelling myths, and listening to impactful stories and community concerns. In addition to these local connections, the team at the WHA continue to work hard to cultivate strong partnerships with all levels of government to be able to deliver more affordable housing supply for our community. These efforts are paying off as evidenced by the creation of our new WHA Rental units for our workforce.
If you are interested in contributing further to the Employee Housing Programs and the WHA, we encourage you to consider applying to join the WHA Board of Directors. Board applications will be received until May 23, 2024.
If you are a homeowner in the Employee Housing Ownership Program, please complete your the annual 2024 Occupancy Declaration before July 3, 2024. The information collected from the annual Employee Housing Occupancy Declarations helps us to ensure that the inventory is being used as intended, as homes exclusively for Whistler's workforce.
